Start with the subfloor
Uneven surfaces and moisture can affect a new floor. We assess whether existing flooring needs removal or the base needs levelling. Where underfloor heating is present, the flooring, underlay and installation method must meet the manufacturer’s requirements.
Planks, herringbone and finishing details
The pattern affects both the appearance and the work involved. We discuss board direction, cuts around doorways and transitions between rooms. Skirting, thresholds and expansion gaps are included in planning the installation.

Our range includes oak planks, herringbone and chevron. Discuss room use, finish and care before choosing the material. If you already have flooring, send the product name and details so the installation method and preparation can be assessed.
Parquet installation cost and what the quote covers
A price per square metre is useful only when the materials and work included are clear. We assess the project before preparing a final quote. Ask for a breakdown and the total including VAT.
- Flooring and quantity
- Flooring type, board size and laying pattern affect material requirements. Cutting and waste must be allowed for according to the room layout. Check whether the boards themselves and delivery are included.
- Removal and preparation
- Removing old flooring, disposal, moisture checks and subfloor levelling are separate tasks. The assessment establishes what is needed. An uneven or damp base must be addressed before installation.
- Installation and pattern
- Straight planks and herringbone parquet require different planning and cutting. Several small rooms, corners and doorways can also change the work even when the total floor area is identical.
- Skirting and completion
- Define the skirting, thresholds, transitions to tiles, furniture moving and cleanup. Access and any travel costs should also be clear before you approve the project.
Comparison example: two 50 m² floors can require different work. One is an open room on a prepared base; the other has several rooms and needs removal and levelling. Compare quotes for the same scope, rather than the square-metre rate alone.
