How much does parquet installation cost in Iceland?
Flooring, subfloor preparation and fitting are separate costs. Learn what a quote should include and what to send for a useful assessment.
What affects the cost of fitting parquet?
Flooring, area, subfloor condition, pattern and finishing details determine the cost. Before comparing square-metre rates, check whether each quote covers labour alone or also includes flooring, underlay and skirting.

Five items to compare
- Flooring and materials. Identify the product, quantity, underlay or adhesive and delivery. Browse our flooring range and confirm what the material purchase includes.
- Removal and disposal. State whether the existing floor must come up and who handles the waste.
- Preparation. Moisture checks, repairs and levelling are separate tasks. New boards do not solve a problem in the base.
- Fitting and pattern. Planks and herringbone require different planning. Doorways, corners and several small rooms can increase cutting work.
- Completion. Include skirting, thresholds, transitions to tiles, cleaning and any agreed travel costs.
Same area, different work
A 40 m² living room on a prepared base is a different job from 40 m² spread across a hallway and three rooms with old flooring. Removal, levelling and extra cuts may change the work. This is a scope comparison, not a price offer or a completed project.
Measure each room separately. A 4 × 5 metre room covers 20 m². Note doorways and transitions as well. Cutting allowance depends on the layout and pattern; do not automatically apply the same percentage to every job.
Underfloor heating and scheduling
Send the flooring product name and heating-system details. Flooring, underlay and fitting method must meet the relevant manufacturer's requirements. Quick-Step's parquet and floor-heating instructions illustrate product-specific requirements; they are not a specification for other brands.
Check both working time and when furniture can return. Subfloor drying or adhesive curing may add waiting time. If you also need interior painting, agree the sequence before booking dates.
What belongs in a written quote?
- Rooms, measured area and selected flooring.
- Removal, preparation and fitting method.
- Materials, skirting, thresholds and cleanup.
- Total price including VAT and any excluded items.
- Dates, access and how additional work will be approved.
Does the square-metre price include the parquet?
The quotation should say so explicitly. If you already own the material, send its product name, quantity and installation instructions.
Could I keep the existing floor instead?
That depends on its condition and remaining wear layer. Read our sanding or replacement guide before arranging removal.
